On the River Trial

Another great trial put on by Dirk and Sonja this past weekend.  One of the nicest fields we have run on, it is a beautiful setting with mountains, rivers, and 500 yards to outurn on.  Bill Berhow was judging over the three days working hard for the over 70 runs per day.  Dirk's Scotties worked great all weekend... a bit of a challenge for the young dogs but well managed by the Open teams.  Ursula and Pete did well taking 3rd place in Pro-Novice out of 28 dogs on the first day.  Dave and Cap took 3rd in Pro-Novice the 2nd day as well as 2nd out of 11 dogs in the Nursery class both days.  Ron Green had an absolutely gorgeous run with his Tiger in the second round of the Nursery Class with an 84/90 winning score.  Wonderful dog, very nice handling.  Just one more enjoyable weekend spent amongst dogs and friends.

Norm Close Clinic #2

Norm is coming back!  October 31st - November 1st.  More details to follow as we tighten things up.  We hope to fill the clinic and have a more formal process for folks wanting to take advantage of Vickie's photographic skills.  We will make an announcement soon.

Kathy Knox Clinics

Kathy Kox is coming back to town in August and October.  Please Please Please... if you don't feel like you should attend with your dog, PLEASE audit at least one day.  It will be WELL worth your while.  Auditing when she comes to Eatonville in October is great.  If you audit the Saturday session the dinner is included.  All I can tell you is that Bob Homan is a great cook and brings the standard of clinic food to a whole different level.  Kathy's knowledge, ability to communicate, and sense of humor as well as Bob's cooking... a day to be remembered.  We will be attending both.  Becca!  I'm talking to you!!!

Lacamas Valley Stock Dog Trial

DO NOT MISS THIS TRIAL!!!!!  It is about an hour and forty five minutes away.  It is the most prestigious trial on the west coast.  The Johnston Farm provides two BEAUTIFUL trial fields and Lynn Johnston puts on a great show.  Ursula and I will be there competing with Pete and Cap.  Can't wait!

If you can only come down for one day make it Sunday, August 16th.  That is the day of the double lift finals and will have some of the best teams in the country competing for the championship.  Well worth the drive.

Heather and Joe are having Patrick Shanahan out the weekend after the Lacamas Valley Stock Dog Trial, August 21-23rd for lessons and possibly a day of a judging/handling clinic for those of us competing to get some "strategy" advise.  It's $85/1 hr lesson.  If the clinic comes together it would be $100/person max of 12 people.  Heather's email is heather@islandcrossingfarm.com.  She will have registration forms up on their website www.islandcrossingfarm.com soon.

Patrick is a extraordinary competitor, National Champion, and wonderful trainer of dogs and handlers.

New Lambs

Thank you Cheryl and Steve Munson!  We were able to purchase 9 of their beautiful lambs this past Tuesday.  We will let them settle in for a period of time then put them to work.  We have another 10 or so lambs coming next month so we should have a 4 to 5 fresh sets to work with.
